We help Grande Prairie seniors, disabled, convalescent (due to surgery or illness), or those who lack the strength or motivation to prepare adequate meals for themselves.

Who qualifies for meal service?

A

Anyone regardless of age that requires assistance.

  • Disabled
  • Recovering from illness, injury or an operation
  • Cooking may be dangerous
  • Lack the strength, motivation or ability to prepare adequate meals for themselves.
  • Aid in remaining independent in your own home
Q How much do the meals cost?
A

$10.00 per meal. Payment must be made prior to receiving meals.

What days do you deliver meals?

A

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday excluding statutory holidays.

Q What time are the meals delivered?
A

Meals are delivered between 11:15 am to 1:00 pm.

Q Who delivers the meals to me?
A We are very lucky to have the support of many wonderful volunteers who donate their time and vehicle expenses to bring our clients the meal and a smile.
*Volunteers cannot accept payments
Q Where are the meals prepared?
A The meals are prepared and cooked daily in the QEII kitchen by trained food services staff.

What do the meals consist of?

A

You will receive a Soup, Hot Entree (vegetable \ protein \ starch) & desert. 
No beverages are supplied.

Example Menus:

  • Beef vegetable soup w/bun, veal cutlet, carrots, mashed potatoes & butter tart
  • Corn chowder w/bun, breaded chicken, green beans, long grain rice & carrot cake

Can I choose the menu I receive?

A

Our menu is served on a 21-day rotation therefore you will receive what has been prepared for that day. You can however advise us of any STRONG dislikes and we will try our best to accommodate this request.
**All allergies will be observed to the best of our ability **

Q Are there different meal sizes?
A

The meal is only offered in one standard size.

What type of diets are available?

A

Because our meals are prepared through the QEII kitchen we have access to an onsite dietitian. We can provide a large range of specific diets tailored to the clients needs.
       
Example diets:  Regular, Diabetic, Cardiac, Renal, Dental soft, minced & Pureed.

How do I request meal service for myself or my family member?

A

Please contact our office @ (780)539-3901 so that our staff can assist you in the application process.

How long does it take to set up a new client?

A

It takes two days for an initial set up.

Q

Can I cancel my meal without being charged for it?

A

Yes. As long as you let us know by 12:00 pm the day before to cancel meal service. Cancellations can be taken the morning of the same day, but the client will still be charged for that day.
